So, there's quite a big thing in the US called Thanksgiving. I don't quite know the ins and outs of it all but I know for certain it's where everyone eats and spends time with their nearest and dearest. However, without own nearest and dearest's thousands of miles away, our very dear friend Kelsey offered to take 5 of us internationals under her wing and invite us up to San Francisco for a very American thanksgiving!
So, as the boys and Kelsey drove up with Kelseys sister, the three musketeers as we shall be referred to from this point onwards (Becca, Anne and I) decided to take the greyhound up to where Kelsey lives, which was.. erm.. an experience. Not only did our coach overheat 3 times, but we were also delayed 4 hours to Kelseys house and was forced to eat my lunch at the side of a freeway in the middle of the desert. At least it made for an interesting story I guess!
Little did we know, that the return journey wouldn't be much better, but i'll explain that one later!
When we finally arrived at around 9pm we were greeted by Kelsey, Alastair, Canadian Matt and Kelseys mum and sister. We had finally made it after 12 hours on a coach, and were pretty excited to rest up and prepare for a few days with Kelsey and her family!
The following day was Thanksgiving and its safe to say that every aspect lived up to its expectations! We started the morning off with a walk around Kelseys area, and genuinely, felt like I was in an episode of desperate housewives!
We then met Kelseys family, like her uncle, grandma and great grandma and settled down for a lovely thanksgiving dinner cooked by her family!
Overall, the meal was delicious and thank you very much to Kelseys family for cooking it for us! Definitely a meal to remember!
After thanksgiving, there is also ANOTHER tradition called Black Friday. However, for some reason, black friday started on thursday evening this year, and with Anne desperate for an iPad, as a group we set out to target on a mission to pick her one up!
Here's some pictures of us just chilling in the 30,000 mile long queue into target :)
Mission Successful!
